Commercial Fuels
Fuel Oils are one of the last remaining family-owned independent fuel distributors in the South East and have been supplying the Commercial sector for over 60 years. We supply Diesel, Gas Oil (Red diesel), Marine Gas Oil, Kerosene, Premium Boiler Heat (Industrial Heating Oil), HVO Renewable Diesel, Petrol and GTL. More information is provided below or contact us using the Make an Enquiry red button on the right or call us on 01322 349 035.
ULS Derv
Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel (ULSD) is a distillate fuel manufactured from selected crude oils and carefully blended to impart desirable performance related properties to the fuel, such as quick starting, smoke control and reduced particulates, whilst providing exceptional low temperature operation and protection from injector and pump wear.Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel is designed for use in both high and medium speed diesel engines. It exceeds the latest requirements of the relevant British and European Specification BS EN 590 and fully meets UK, Ultra Low Sulphur Diesel specification. Operating at low temperature can be maintained when fuel properties are seasonally adjusted. For relevant specification and safety data, please go the downloads section or click the link below.
Gas Oil
Gas Oil (Red Diesel) is a distillate fuel manufactured to give clean burning, maximum heat output and efficient combustion in boilers and off-road diesel engines. It is a ‘rebated’ fuel, (reduced rate of excise duty) and as such is dyed red and contains chemical markers in accordance to Customs and Excise requirements. Gas Oil can only be supplied to customers or business users that are eligible to use this type of fuel. The types of business eligible to use Gas Oil changed in 2022 and are generally restricted to Agriculture, Forestry, Golf Courses and Marine. A commercial business that has previously used Gas Oil as a heating fuel should switch to Premium Boiler Heat.
Gas Oil exceeds the latest requirements of relevant British Standard Specification BS 2869:2017 Class D. Fuel properties are seasonally adjusted to maintain good low temperature operability. For relevant specification and safety data, please go the downloads section or click the link below.
Kerosene
Kerosene, or Burning Oil, is a regular grade Kerosene, refined to a high quality, having very good burning characteristics. It is recommended for domestic heating appliances with external and balanced flues, vaporising flame burners and pressure jet boilers. Its clean burning characteristics maintain a high heat output and maximum economy. Kerosene exceeds the requirements of the relevant British Standard Specification BS 2869 Class C2 and contains chemical markers in accordance with Customs and Excise requirements.
HVO
HVO fuel is a paraffinic diesel fuel with up to 90% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and is a pure fuel made from vegetable oils, animal fats or renewable resources. HVO is a direct alternative to traditional diesel and meets the EN15940 standard. There is no requirement to change any settings or modify engines. Providing your tank is clean and free from contamination, HVO can be stored in the same tank as diesel.HVO does not react with water or oxygen and resists diesel type bugs. There is no Sulphur or FAME content in HVO and consequently it has a long shelf life in excess of 5 years.
In cold and winter conditions HVO will perform better than diesel and is less prone to waxing. The cold start performance of HVO is better than the equivalent diesel.
In summary HVO is a great alternative to Diesel particularly with the improved green credentials shown by HVO.
PBH
Premium Boiler Heat (also known as Industrial Heating Oil) is a blend of petroleum factions and performance additive which provides a more economical alternative to BS2869 Class D Gas Oil for burning applications. PBH can only be used in a heating application it is not to be used as a fuel for any engine, motor or other machinery. PBH has the same calorific value and physical properties as Gas Oil so no changes are required to boilers previously burning Gas Oil.
Petrol
Petrol is a petrochemical characterised as a transparent, yellowish, and highly flammable liquid. Normally used as a fuel for spark-ignited internal combustion engines. Due to its highly flammable nature and high explosion risk, it must be stored correctly. Our minimum order quantities are normally 2500 litres and this can only be delivered to a purpose built explosion proof petrol tank. All petrol deliveries must be gravity dropped not pumped and other restrictions apply. You should consult the Health and Safety Executive website for more information regarding safe storage and regulations relating to petrol before purchasing any bulk petrol.
Marine Gasoil
Marine Gas Oil is a marked red diesel specifically for marine use. The main difference between normal Gas Oil and Marine Gas Oil is the flash point of Marine Gas Oil needs to be above 60 degrees centigrade. The majority of the time Marine Grade Gasoil will also have little or no FAME content. Please note Marine Gasoil is a controlled Oil and can only be supplied to customers eligible to use this type of fuel. Users of this type of product should check their eligibility and follow Customs and Excise rules and guidelines.

GTL
GTL Fuel products are alternative fuels for use in diesel engines and reduce emissions of particulate matter, NOX, hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide. GTL Fuel products are virtually free of aromatics, poly-cyclic aromatics, olefins, sulphur, nitrogen, and metals. These fuels are colourless and almost odourless and have a higher cetane number than conventional diesel.
There are different versions of GTL that can be used for road use, an equivalent to Gas Oil mainly for Agricultural use and a version for Marine use with a flash point above 60 degrees centigrade. The red dyed GTL for Agricultural or Marine use is also restricted in terms of eligibility and the same Customs and Excise restrictions apply as those for Gas Oil. GTL meets the specification of ASTM D975 diesel standard. It also meets the BS EN 15940 class A specification and the requirements of BS EN 590 diesel except density.
